Our Residential Design/Build Method

1. Initial Meeting and Agreement
We come to your home to understand your needs, dreams, and creative tastes. Based on the scope of your project we will prepare a proposal for design services. Upon agreement to embark on your project, we will take measurements of your land and architecture. One half of the design fee is paid as a retainer.

2. Presentation of Design Concept
Hill Country Landscaping will develop your one-of-a-kind design. We will walk through every aspect of the design with you, answering your questions and adjusting the design to closely match your needs and desires. We will also present design options for you to consider. Upon approval of the design, the second half of the design is paid.

3. Project Schedule
Once you approve the plan for landscape construction, a proposal will be prepared for the installation of your new landscape. When we receive the signed contract for installation, and a thirty percent deposit, we will schedule the job and order materials. We will carefully review your project with you so that there is a clear understanding of timeline and progression.

If you prefer, we can bid out the job to other landscape contractors. If so, Hill Country Landscaping will prepare a set of bid documents and can also manage the bid process for you. When the construction documents are complete, the second half of the design fee is paid. For larger projects, progress billings will be invoiced on a monthly basis.

4. Installation
Depending on the scope of the project, our crew may be at your property anywhere from one day to one month or more. We will place a job sign with our name and logo on your property at the street to assist with landscape deliveries to your site.

During the installation process any changes to the plan will be carefully documented and a change order request will be resubmitted. For larger projects, progess billings will be invoiced on a monthly basis.

Construction will begin with demolition and then proceed to rough grading, drainage, walls, walkways, water features and large trees. These operations require large machines and will cause disturbance to the ground, which is normal. All disturbances will be repaired before the job is done. Next we install the irrigation system, prepare beds, and install smaller plants. Finally we establish the lawn, Install lighting fixtures, and apply mulch. All plants are thoroughly watered, large trees are staked and ribbons and tags are removed from the plants. All debris is picked up and disposed of properly. Driveways and walkways are swept clean.

5. Final Acceptance and Maintenance Instructions
We walk through your completed new landscape with you, explaining the required maintenance and your available options for continued maintenance with Hill Country Landscaping. We guarantee all plants’ viability for a full year.
